Service Description
This course will be led by one of our enthusiastic moving and handling training team who are all registered health care professionals, experienced in current Moving and Handling Safe Practice. Course Content Theory: -The manual handling operations regulations -Risk avoidance, assessment and reduction -Responsibilities of employers, staff and volunteers -Basic anatomy, physiology, nature of injury -Efficient movement and ergonomics Practical (as appropriate): -Manoeuvres and transfers, e.g sitting to standing, assisted walking, stairs, car transfers, wheelchair use, use of glide sheets, transfer aids, movement of clients in bed, safe handling of inanimate loads -Practical hoist training for use in Moving and Handling manoeuvres and transfers: passive and standing hoists; slings Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme (SMHPS), 2014 This course covers Modules A, B, C, D and E foundation training curriculum – theory – inanimate loads – chair manoeuvres – bed manoeuvres – Hoisting Suitable for Care staff and volunteers who provide physical assistance to clients, including assistance with chair transfers, bed transfers and use of mechanical lifting equipment. Delivered as a blended model with a face-to-face practical session and theory workbook, for completion prior to practical, with online support as needed. Cancellation Policy
Payment: Payment must be made prior to the date of the course. Cancellations: A full refund will be given if a booking is cancelled not later than 15 days prior to the course start date or if TfC cancels a course. Times: Stated course lengths include a.m. and p.m. break (15 min) and lunch break (30 min). Courses involving practical exercises may finish earlier than scheduled if participant numbers are low (although the syllabus will have been fully covered). Booking Confirmation will be emailed as soon as possible after we receive your booking request together with all relevant course documentation, if applicable.
