This Health and Social Care Level 2 Open Assessment Programme is offered as a non-classroom based open assessment option using the "Learning Assistant" e-portfolio system. This reduces backfill costs for employers and enables candidates to work through the qualification at a pace which is aligned accurately with their knowledge, experience and job role.

The “Learning Assistant” e-portfolio system provides the technical framework for our approach to distance learning, support and assessment. We have looked at various systems and, in our opinion, it is the most effective and user-friendly for:
- providing and assessing evidence
- prompt communication between candidate and assessor
- on-line access to planning guidelines and learning materials
- participant on-line forum
The content and quality of the planning, assessment, learning materials, guidance and support which flesh out the framework is the responsibility of Training for Care.
