The course uses presentations, activities and discussions to demystify this important subject. It forms part of the National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Well-being and is ideal for staff, volunteers or members of the public who may have to provide initial help, respond to crisis or support recovery for people experiencing a mental health problem.
Lead Tutor
Sarah Shimmen. Sarah is a qualified SMHFA instructor. Before going freelance last year, she was employed as a project manager for the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health, where her work included developing and delivering Promoting Positive Mentally Healthy Workplaces in conjunction with STUC, research and dissemination for the Community Food and Health Initiative and identifying and delivering action learning sets for Child Adolescent Mental Health Services.
