Scottish Vocational Qualifications for Social Carers Working with Adults or Children

Working with Adults

  • Qualifications offered: Health and Social Care Levels 2, 3, 4, “Registered Supervisor” See menu on left of page
  • Delivery models: all levels and registered supervisor - open assessment (start anytime/personalised timetable); level 2 and 3 – taught programme (varied day release according to level); customised models
  • Settings: community care, care homes, day centres, care at home
  • Client groups: older people, people with additional needs, mental health, substance abuse, homelessness  
 
 
Working with Children
  • Qualifications offered: Children’s Care, Learning and Development Levels 2 and 3 See menu on left of page
  • Delivery models: level 3 – open assessment (start anytime/ personalised timetable); level 3 – taught programme (fortnightly evening release); level 2 – taught programme (weekly day/twilight release)
  • Settings: nurseries, playgroups, after-school clubs, child minders
  • Client groups: babies, pre-school, under 12s
 
 
Experience and Success
  • Training for Care has been delivering SVQs since 1993
  • 1000+ completions
  • The first student in Scotland to complete the Health and Social Modern Apprenticeship
  • The first student in Scotland to complete the Early Years Care and Education Modern Apprenticeship
  • Three of the first ten students in Scotland to complete Child Care and Education SVQ 2
  • One of the first ten students in Scotland to complete Care 4

Fees and Funding
  • Fees: Training for Care works hard to find the right balance between affordable fees and professional training!
  • Funding: all courses are eligible for Individual Learning Account support. Skillseeker and Modern Apprenticeship funding available subject to eligibility. Training for Care also works closely with qualifying organisations to access the Voluntary Sector Development Fund
